Shanghai (Gasgoo)- China’s automaker Lifan expressed its interest in producing new energy products in Uruguay at the 11th China-Latin America and the Caribbean (China-LAC) Business Summit.
On November 3, Chinese reporters gained news from the company that at Uruguay government’s invitation, the company decided to introduce new energy products into the Latin American country and promote the localization of its electronic control and battery technology. What’s more, Lifan also plans to launch ride-sharing and taxi services of new energy vehicles in Uruguay and then expand the services to other Latin America countries.
Uruguay President Tabare Vazquez, revealed that the presidential palace will take lead in setting up a work team to support Lifan to carry out new energy projects. The government hopes Lifan to expand local production capacity and build new energy vehicle production lines in Uruguay.
Ever since Lifan started to build engine companies and vehicle assembly plants in Uruguay in 2012, the company managed to sell vehicles in many Latin countries while its motorbikes reached throughout the Latin America.
Mou Gang, president of Lifan Group, said that new energy products and globalization matter much to the company. In product, the company sticks to the combination of charging and swapping battery techonology. Currently, the company is researching how to commercialize autonomous technology to solve the problem of last kilometer.
