Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The all-new Peugeot 508 was officially unveiled at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show, according to official news from Peugeot. Besides, the new model is expected to be locally produced in China this year.
The production of the all-new Peugeot 508 is based on PSA Groupe's EMP2 platform which features lightweight technologies. The key parts of the models produced on EMP2 platform will be made up of such composites as high-tensile steel and aluminum alloy. Using lightweight materials, the new model is expected to cost less fuel.
The all-new Peugeot 508 adopts the design idea of the Exalt concept model, featuring a dot-matrix intake grille with the logo in the middle. On both sides of headlights, the separable LED daytime running lights convey a pretty aggressive feeling. The lion-paw-shaped taillights are covered by black decorative strips stretching the whole trunk.
As to the interior, the all-new Peugeot 508 features the design of i-Cockpit with the center console leaning towards the driver. A full liquid crystal instrument board is located in front of a multifunctional steering wheel. In the center control area, there is a large-sized liquid crystal display equipped with a piano-key-shaped control button and a yacht-style electronic gear lever.
The all-new Peugeot 508 offers several power options, such as 1.6T gasoline engine, 1.5T diesel engine and 2.0T diesel engine, paired with an all-new 8-speed automatic manual transmission (AMT). The locally-produced model may provide two types of engines. The 1.6L turbo engine is able to deliver a maximum power of 123kW with a peak torque of 245Nm while the 1.8L engine can output a maximum power of 150kW, boasting a peak torque of 280Nm.
