Chery: The Great Leap not surpassed Toyota

Shingo From GAS| February 06 , 2007

Jan 5th, Chery held a ceremony in Beijing to celebrate the handing over of its 300,000th COWIN to its user. Qin Lihong, the general manager of hery sales company announced in the ceremony that the sale volume of Chery will surpass 305,000, following Shanghai GM and North & South Volkswagen, taking a seat of the fourth powerful car maker in domestic market.

For the recent 3 years, the sale volume of Chery is 80,000, 1,850,000 and 3,050,000 separately. With such a fast increasing, it made a record of progress in the development of domestic produced auto. In the increasing harsh competition market of 2005 and 2006, Chery made a big progress.

Qin Lihong thinks that Chinese auto industry has entered the soundest period for its development, and the chance would not stay long. Once it disappears, it will not return back. Japan also experienced such a “leap” development. In 1965, the export quantum of Japan is only 190,000, then 1,000,000 in 1970, till 1973 it surpassed 2,000,000, and near to 6,000,000 in 1980. He said: comparing to Toyota, the development of Chery is not fast enough.

"The competition has not come incandesced".

Last month, Chery publish the promotion & upgrading activities for all series. After adjustment, the pricing of **98 become the new price series, for instance, QQ 329,800 Yuan, QQ 639,800 Yuan, COWIN 49,800 Yuan, A5 69,800 Yuan, Eaststar 89,800 Yuan and V5 109,800 Yuan.
