At the first quarter of 2007, Changan automobile have had a breakthrough in the export of 7,050 units, up 84.7%year-on-year, thus was named as the second largest exporter in China. The company exported 23,000 last year to countries and regions like North America, Middle East, South America, Southeast Asia, Africa, etc, ranked No.4 among domestic auto makers.
Changan mainly export full-sized vehicles overseas and is committed in promoting OEM production abroad. Along with the stable increase in the domestic market, many models including Changan star van, star truck and CM8, are becoming popular models in oversea markets. With the effective exploitation and good cooperation with oversea distributors, Changan automobile increases its local sales in Syria, Pakistan, Egypt, America, Guatemala, etc.
Sources revealed that Changan has established export bases in Chongqing, Hebei and Jiangxi province in mainland China, of which Heibei base will focus on producing mini-cars while Jiangxi base will export SUC and pickups. Chongqing base will also become more and more important given the successful launch of a self-brand vehicle months ago.
